Directions: from West Chester, take Route 202 North to Route 29 North. When Route 29 goes right, continue straight on Charlestown Road. School is up the hill on your right. Enter the second driveway and park in the back.

Meet Hike Leader George March, 610.384.3753 (H), at 9:30 AM in the area behind the Arboretum’s Visitor Center for a hike exploring the Arboretum’s outer, inner, and connecting trails.

This is a joint hike with Tyler Arboretum members, and members of the public are also invited to participate. Tyler membership, a guest pass, or payment of entry fee is required. Admissions are: Adults (ages 18-64): $18; Seniors (65+), and Veterans: $15; Military, and children ages 3-17, and students with valid ID: $10; Tyler members - Free. To expedite entry processing through the Visitor Center, Tyler is requesting pre-registration from their Website’s Event Calendar page (https://tylerarboretum.org/calendar). CCTC does not have a registration requirement; there is no limit on the number of hikers. The gate to the parking lot opens at 9:00 AM; park in the lot. Sign in with the hike leader on the Club’s sign-in sheet then check in at the Visitor Center window. Proceed to circle-up at 9:30 AM on the grass area in front of the Barn.

Village and Woods of Arden Delaware, Class A/B, 5-6 Miles (Saturday, September 26, 2026)

Meet HL John Trexler, ph. (484) 319-2350, for a walk through the village of Arden and surrounding woodlands. Arden came to life as a Summer arts colony and Utopian community in 1900.Meet at the Arden Gild Hall.

Directions: Head south on U.2. 202. 0.7 miles past the Delaware line, turn left at the Rte. 92/ Naamans Road traffic light. In 0.9 miles (3rd traffic light), turn right onto Grubb Road. Continue 2.5 miles on Grubb Road/Harvey Road, then turn right onto Orleans Road (4th traffic light). Keep to the left at the fork in the road, and the Gild Hall will come up quickly on your left.

Directions: From I-476 South towards Chester, take exit 3 on the right onto East Baltimore Pike towards Swarthmore. Turn left onto East Baltimore Pike 0.6 miles, turn right onto Swarthmore Ave 0.2 miles, turn right onto Walnut Lane 0.3 miles, turn left onto Elm Ave 250 ft., turn right onto Whittier Place 350 ft., turn right 500 ft. The DuPont parking lot will be on your right, past some small houses. Across the Whittier circle at the corner of the parking lot is a map of the campus.

Meet HL Gene Pisasale, 610-304-3993, at the Park Office. This hike will take us on a couple of the trails there including the PennDel Trail and the Tri-State Marker Trail, where we will see the intersection of three states: PA-DEL-MD.

The hike is roughly A-B, with some slight inclines, but mostly rolling hills to flatland along the creek.

Total hike- approximately 5-6 miles, possibly longer if people want to go slightly off trail to explore the markers and the Creek.

Appalachian Trail Pennsylvania Section 7, Class C, 16 Miles (Saturday, October 03, 2026)

Meet Hike Leaders Alison and Bob Gagnon 610-547-0034, robertgagnon@verizon.net, for a day hike on Section 7 of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. The hike is from Swatara Gap to PA 325. This will be a shuttle hike.

Hikers are asked to have completed at least 3 documented hikes with the CCTC. Those who do not meet this criteria but wish to participate, and guest hikers, are asked to contact the HL at least 72 hours before the hike.

Directions: Meet at the AT access parking lot at Clarks Creek, PA 325, at 8:00 am.

GPS Coordinates: 40.4520, -76.7763. We will shuttle to the AT access parking lot at Moonshine Rd, Swatara State Park at 8:00 am.

Midtown Manhattan and Roosevelt Island ,Class A, 8-11 Miles (Saturday, October 03, 2026)

We will walk by the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, U.N. headquarters etc. We will take an aerial tram from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island and back (one way fare is $3.25).

Meet at the Penn Station at the corner of 33rd Street and 8th Avenue at 10 am. Bring water and lunch or purchase lunch on a hike as there

will be a few lunch options available on Roosevelt Island. The hike leaders will take NJ transit train from Princeton Junction to Penn Station NYC.

Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail, Class B, 11.5 Miles (Sunday, October 11, 2026)

Meet HLs Alison Gagnon 610-322-9746 (alison.gagnon@verizon.net) and Bob Gagnon, for a hike through diverse wetlands, woodlands, and meadows on the Green Ribbon Trail that shadows the Wissahickon Creek from North Wales to Flourtown. The trail is generally moderate grade (elevation gain/loss ~175/350 ft) composed of dirt (potentially muddy at times) with areas of exposed roots and rocks, wooden bridges/boardwalks, several road crossings, with some short paved areas. The trail includes 7-8 concrete stepping-stone crossings of the Wissahickon Creek – trekking poles recommended.

Address: Meet at Fort Washington State Park, Militia Hill Day Use Area, Parking Lot #5, State Park Rd (also called Fort Washington Rd on some map apps), PA (GPS: 40.12104, -75.22367) at 9:00 am. The parking lot is opposite the Hawk Observation Deck. GPS coordinates are the most efficient way to find the parking lot.

Directions: From PA Turnpike Eastbound take Exit 333 towards Norristown, Take Ramp for Plymouth Rd, Turn Right onto Plymouth Rd this turns into Flourtown Rd, Turn Left onto Joshua Rd, Turn Right onto Militia Hill Rd, Turn Right (just after 447 Militia Hill Rd) onto State Park Rd. Parking Lot #5 is the first lot on your right and is opposite the Hawk Observation Deck. Note: State Park Rd is also called Fort Washington Rd on some map apps (ie, Apple maps).

Shuttle: From there we will shuttle to Parkside Place in North Wales (415 Parkside Pl, Upper Gwynedd, PA, ~25-minute shuttle; GPS: 40.21031, -75.28847) where we will start the hike. Park at the back of the park on the right after the Township Building and across from the pool.

NOTE: There are restrooms at both Ft. Washington State Park Parking Lot 5 and Parkside Place.

Join Keystone Trails Association for its annual Keystone Hiking & Outdoor Weekend, set against the fall foliage of the Susquehanna Riverlands Conservation Landscape in Lancaster and York counties. Based near Columbia, PA, the four-day event (Thursday–Sunday) offers something for every kind of adventurer: guided hikes for all skill levels, road and gravel biking, river paddling, overnight backpacking and bike packing, birding walks, a mushroom ID hike, nature journaling, yoga, and stewardship projects — plus tours highlighting the region's Underground Railroad history.

Evening highlights include a keynote dinner at John Wright Restaurant and a Saturday social at Columbia Kettle Works, featuring a special weekend brew benefiting KTA.

Come for one day or all four — costs run $10/day for youth (18 and under) to $25/day for adults. Registration is open now and closes October 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. (the event is expected to sell out). Lodging is available at the Hampton Columbia Chip Factory Hotel or at group campsites in Susquehannock State Park.

Once in the Navy Yard, turn LEFT onto Kitty Hawk Avenue and continue to South 11th Street. Turn right onto 11th Street to its end at Admiral Peary Way. This is our meeting place.

The 31st Annual Hike Across Delaware Saturday, November 7, 2026

The Hike Across Delaware (HAD) is held in November. It is a fun, non-competitive, annual community event hosted by the Wilmington Trail Club and offering the opportunity to hike fifteen miles, the entire width of Delaware.

Check-in takes place at the Gazebo in Delaware City’s Battery Park between 8 and 8:45 a.m. at which time buses take participants to the start in North Chesapeake City, Maryland. Delaware City public parking is available one block from Battery Park at 82 Washington Street.

We hike along the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The route is mostly flat and lies mainly on land designated as the C&D Canal Conservation Area. At the town of St. Georges, 10 miles along the trail, light refreshments and rest rooms are available. At this juncture, provisions are made to transport people back to their cars, if necessary.

The early November weather is usually ideal and the trees and shrubbery sporting their fall foliage, combined with a close view of boats, ships and barges using the waterway, make for a pleasant journey along the trail.

The trail is paved and comfortable sneakers or walking shoes, not hiking boots, are recommended. Although the terrain is not difficult, the distance requires adequate preparation. We will meet in Delaware City and hike the canal route until we make it to the Ice Cream Shop which is the 5 mile turn around point. Anyone who wishes to do less may do so at any point just inform the HL. This hike will give us time to enjoy the beauty of the area without the pressure to finish within a certain time frame. Once we return to Delaware City we can meet up with friends who may be finishing the HAD. If the Ice Cream and the scenery is not enough lunch is also an option. Directions: Take US-202 North toward King of Prussia. Using the right 3 lanes merge onto I-76 East toward Philadelphia East (5.0 mi.) Take exit 331B to merge onto I-476 N toward Plymouth Meeting (2.8 mi). Take exit 18A toward Conshohocken. Merge onto Ridge Pike/SR 3056/State Route 3056. Continue to follow Ridge Pike. Pass by Outback Steakhouse (on the left in 0.4 mi) (3.5 mi). Continue onto Ridge Ave. (0.2 mi). Turn left onto Bells Mill Rd. Forbidden Drive Upper Parking Lot will be on the right.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not arrive before 8:00 AM. Directions: Go west on Route 30 (towards Parkesburg). At Route 30 and 10, turn left onto Route 10 (south) and go 3.7 miles to Highland Rd. Turn right onto Highland Rd. and go 3.3 miles (you'll cross over Route 41) to a left onto Bailey Crossroads. Take the 1st right onto Schoff Rd, go about 1 mile and make a right into the park. The parking lot is on the left. If that lot is filled, go back up the driveway to the overflow parking on the left as you go up the hill. We plan to be done by lunchtime. No dogs.
