Marsh Creek State Park, Class A/B, 4-5 Miles (Saturday, August 29, 2026)

Meet HLs Pradip Bhatnagar (4842521947), for an easy hike in Marsh Creek State Park. We will hike along the north shore of the lake. The terrain is mostly flat with slight elevations. There are three minor water crossings which are normally dry and easy to cross. You may want to bring hiking poles with you. The hike will be 4-5 miles. One can easily bail out whenever desired.

Directions: From Route 30 and Route 100 crossing in Exton. Take Route 30 business west for 0.8 miles. Take Route 30 west toward Coatsville/Lancaster, 2.8 miles take exit 322 West. 1.6 miles take CornerKetch Rd. 2.3 miles turn left on to PA 282 West. 450 feet turn right on to Lyndell Rd. 0.7 miles turn left on to Marsh Creek State Park. 0.4 miles to the parking lot.

Directions: From the Rite Aid in Downingtown take Route 282/Wallace Avenue/Creek Road, west for 6.8 miles. Turn right onto Marshall Road for 1.2 miles (at the 1^st stop sign continue straight-Marshall Road becomes Little Conestoga Road). Turn right at the next stop sign to stay on Little Conestoga Road for 0.6 miles. Park on the south side of the road just past the 2^nd Popjoy Lane street sign.

Bail out points will be available for shorter hikes. The hike may include walking on flat land (1-2 miles), rolling hills (4-5 miles) and macadam (1-1.5 mile). Many bail-out points are available, ask the HL if you want to bailout early.

Directions: From Route 100/Rt 30: Go on 100 North, turn right on Swedesford Rd. After crossing Ship Road, go 0.1miles and take a right turn into the parking lot. Please do not go to Church Farm Lane (Exton Park Entrance).

Appalachian Trail Pa section 6A, Class C, 14 Miles (Saturday, September 12, 2026)

Hikers are asked to have completed at least 3 documented hikes with the CCTC. Those who do not meet this criteria but wish to participate, and guest hikers, are asked to contact the HL at least 72 hours before the hike.

We will purchase tickets for the ferry ride to Fort Delaware which is on Pea Patch Island. Fort Delaware is nestled along the Delaware River, this former Civil War camp held thousands of Confederate solders. If time permits, we may travel to Fort Dupont off of Route 9 or wander around the village of Delaware City. Those who would like can stay for lunch as a group or on their own. .

DIRECTIONS: From the Intersection of Route 30 and Route 10:Travel time is approximately 45 minutes from Parkesburg, PA. Drive south on Route 10 for 15.5 miles. Continue onto S Third Street for 1.3 miles, make a slight left onto Barnsley Road and in 3.4 miles continue onto Route 272 for 8.5 miles Turn right onto Route 40 Pulaski Highway and then turn left into shopping center. The Library is across from the Food Lion.

This is a joint hike with Tyler Arboretum members, and members of the public are also invited to participate. Tyler membership, a guest pass, or payment of entry fee is required. Join Keystone Trails Association for its annual Keystone Hiking & Outdoor Weekend, set against the fall foliage of the Susquehanna Riverlands Conservation Landscape in Lancaster and York counties. Based near Columbia, PA, the four-day event (Thursday–Sunday) offers something for every kind of adventurer: guided hikes for all skill levels, road and gravel biking, river paddling, overnight backpacking and bike packing, birding walks, a mushroom ID hike, nature journaling, yoga, and stewardship projects — plus tours highlighting the region's Underground Railroad history.

Evening highlights include a keynote dinner at John Wright Restaurant and a Saturday social at Columbia Kettle Works, featuring a special weekend brew benefiting KTA.

Come for one day or all four — costs run $10/day for youth (18 and under) to $25/day for adults. Registration is open now and closes October 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. (the event is expected to sell out). Lodging is available at the Hampton Columbia Chip Factory Hotel or at group campsites in Susquehannock State Park.

Meeting Place Address:

Meeting place is on the Riverfront Greenway at 11th and Admiral Peary Way.

FINDING THE Meeting Place:

Once in the Navy Yard, turn LEFT onto Kitty Hawk Avenue and continue to South 11th Street. Turn right onto 11th Street to its end at Admiral Peary Way. This is our meeting place.

PARKING: Street parking can be found along 11th Street or Admiral Peary Way.

The 31st Annual Hike Across Delaware Saturday, November 7, 2026

Online registration opens on September 1, 2026

The Hike Across Delaware (HAD) is held in November. It is a fun, non-competitive, annual community event hosted by the Wilmington Trail Club and offering the opportunity to hike fifteen miles, the entire width of Delaware.

Check-in takes place at the Gazebo in Delaware City’s Battery Park between 8 and 8:45 a.m. at which time buses take participants to the start in North Chesapeake City, Maryland. Delaware City public parking is available one block from Battery Park at 82 Washington Street.

We hike along the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The route is mostly flat and lies mainly on land designated as the C&D Canal Conservation Area. At the town of St. Georges, 10 miles along the trail, light refreshments and rest rooms are available. At this juncture, provisions are made to transport people back to their cars, if necessary.

The early November weather is usually ideal and the trees and shrubbery sporting their fall foliage, combined with a close view of boats, ships and barges using the waterway, make for a pleasant journey along the trail.

The trail is paved and comfortable sneakers or walking shoes, not hiking boots, are recommended. Although the terrain is not difficult, the distance requires adequate preparation. We will meet in Delaware City and hike the canal route until we make it to the Ice Cream Shop which is the 5 mile turn around point. Anyone who wishes to do less may do so at any point just inform the HL. This hike will give us time to enjoy the beauty of the area without the pressure to finish within a certain time frame. Once we return to Delaware City we can meet up with friends who may be finishing the HAD. If the Ice Cream and the scenery is not enough lunch is also an option. PLEASE NOTE: Do not arrive before 8:00 AM. Directions: Go west on Route 30 (towards Parkesburg). At Route 30 and 10, turn left onto Route 10 (south) and go 3.7 miles to Highland Rd. Turn right onto Highland Rd. and go 3.3 miles (you'll cross over Route 41) to a left onto Bailey Crossroads. Take the 1st right onto Schoff Rd, go about 1 mile and make a right into the park. The parking lot is on the left. If that lot is filled, go back up the driveway to the overflow parking on the left as you go up the hill. We plan to be done by lunchtime. No dogs. Directions: From Route 202 South, cross over Route 1, go 4.0 miles, then turn right onto DE-92W (shortly after crossing into Delaware). Turn left in 0.3 miles to continue on DE-92W. The parking lot comes up on your left in 1.4 miles, just before crossing the Brandywine.
