Meet HL George March, 610-384-3753 (H), for a series of interconnected loop hikes throughout the park, including along an abandoned railbed beside the Susquehanna River, and visits to three Maryland Champion trees along the trail. Carpool Meeting Directions: For carpooling, meet at 8:00 AM behind Arby's in the Walmart Shopping Center at the intersection of Routes US 30 and PA 10 in western Chester County. NOTE: For those who find it more convenient, there will be an ADDITIONAL carpool meeting place at 8:30 AM in the rear parking lot of the Walmart located along PA 10 north of Oxford, approximately one mile south of US 1. The hike leader will stop there, enroute from the first meeting place. Directions: Proceed south on PA 10 from the intersection of US 1 to the second traffic light (Auto Zone store on the northwest corner). Turn right and drive approximately 500 feet into the Walmart rear parking lot. The hike will begin at 9:00 AM from the Rock Run Grist Mill parking lot in the park. Direct Driving Directions: From the intersection of PA Route 10 and the US 1 Bypass in southern Chester County north of Oxford, drive south 16.4 miles on US 1 to turn left onto Shuresville Road (signed) after crossing the Conowingo Dam. (The first roadway left …not the Conowingo Dam parking area.) Travel 1.7 miles on Shuresville Road to the “Y” intersection with Stafford Road (Take left branch of the “Y” to the Stop sign at Stafford Road.) Turn left and travel 3.7 miles on Stafford Road to the parking lot.
