Meet Hike Leaders Bob and Alison Gagnon 610-547-0034, robertgagnon@verizon.net, for 3 days of day hiking in the Adirondacks, NY, High Peaks Region, August 26 to 30th, 2024. We will be staying at the Adirondack Loj (www.adk.org) which provides bunkhouse sleeping arrangements (shared baths); breakfast, bagged lunch (upon request), and dinner are included in the room fee. The Loj is at the trailhead for all proposed hikes so once at the Loj, no driving is necessary. Proposed hikes are 1) Tuesday August 27, Mt Marcy, the highest peak in the High Peaks Region (5344 ft with 3166 ft ascent, 15 miles), 2) Wednesday August 28, rest day with short hikes around the Loj area if desired, or a day in Lake Placid (10 miles from the Loj) or sites nearby, and 3) Thursday August 29, Algonquin Peak, the second highest peak in the High Peaks Region (5114 ft with 2936 ft ascent, 9 miles). We will adjust the hikes and/or timings if there are weather or other issues.
Monday August 26 and Friday August 30 are travel days, with the option of traveling home after the hike on Thursday August 29, if desired. Car pooling for travel is suggested (~6.5 hour drive from KoP). Further details will be provided at a later date once the HL knows who has registered.
