Club News & Announcements

    • Congratulations to Kathy Borrell for hiking the most miles in the Club's hiking year, October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021! Kathy logged 2,234 miles to become the 2020-2021 Trailmaster.  The 2021 Recorded Mileage & Achievement Report has been added to the Member Section.
    • The 50 year CCTC Club History can be found in the Member Section under Club Documents and can be read online or printed from the web site. If you would like a printed bound copy (the book we gave out at the banquet) please contact ingridcf@verizon.net.  We will do an additional printing if there is a need. If you do not wish to own the copy that you received at the banquet, please return to Ingrid.
    • The CCTC Hike Sign in Sheet includes some updated language. All Hike Leaders should begin using the new form effective November 10, 2021.   
    • Congratulations to Kathy Borrell! Kathy received the KTA Western Pennsylvania Award for hiking 200 miles or more on the western trails listed here. Kathy tallied a total of 226 miles on the Allegheny Front Trail, Bucktail Path, Elk Trail, Laurel Highlands Trail, Lost Turkey Trail, and Rachel Carson Trail between 2015 and 2021 to earn this Award. The Western PA and other KTA hiking awards are handed out annually at the KTA Fall Meeting. 
      • !!!HUNTING SEASON SAFETY It's that time of year again. Hunting takes place in many areas besides state game lands through January so, for safety's sake, wear your orange! Make sure you are visible from all sides by wearing a minimum of 250 square inches of fluorescent (blaze) orange-colored material on the head, chest and back combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same colored material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360° arc. *Also, be aware that the PA Game Commission has opened the following Sundays in 2021 for additional hunting in PA: November 14, 21, and 28. Here is a handy guide from the PA Game Commission:   2021-22 Digest Pocket Guide.pdf
      • The November, 2021 edition of the Keystone Trails Assoc. newsletter, the Keystone Hiker, has been posted in the Member Section. 
        • The Club has discontinued use of the Hot Line. Please refer to email announcements and continue to check the calendar for any schedule changes. The Chester County Trail Club Policies has been amended and updated to reflect this change. 
        • Another 25,000 Milestone! Congratulations to Elizabeth Brecht for achieving 25,000+ cumulative miles hiking with the club. 
        • Congratulations to Don Barber for reaching his goal of hiking 25,000 miles with the Club on Sunday, April 25th at Bellevue State Park in DE. 
        • Beginning in April, eight of the busiest Natural Lands preserves will be closed to the public one day a week to allow for trail maintenance and natural areas management. To view the list and schedule of closures, visit the Natural Lands website.
